Motorcycle crash sends two to hospital
Two people were taken to the hospital following a motorcycle crash late Thursday afternoon on Interstate 40, according to Albuquerque police. Albuquerque Police officers were dispatched to the crash about 5:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-40 at University. The motorcyclist slowed down for traffic, but did not stop in time and crashed into a barrier, according to an e-mail sent to media by Albuquerque Police Department spokeswoman Nadine Hamby. Both the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger suffered serious injuries. Neither were wearing a helmet, according to the e-mail. They were taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital. It was not immediately known if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The victims' names are expected to be released tomorrow.
