10:30 p.m. The Trigo Fire remained on the west side of N.M. 55, fire officials said. Crews were concentrating on protecting structures between Torreon and Tajique. Winds were expected to stay strong and gusty through the night, with red flag warnings to continue Friday. A 20-person smoke jumper team was to be working through midnight.

7 p.m.  Fire officials are reporting that the Trigo Fire is now about 150 yards from N.M. 55 between Torreon and Tajique.

Firefighters are using a bulldozer to dig a line to protect the two towns.

Fire has consumed more buildings in the Manzano Mountains, fire officials reported this afternoon.

Torrance County Emergency management officials told evacuees at the  Estancia Community Center today that more structures have been lost.

But because of the thick smoke, officials do not know how many structures have been burned or their locations.

About 200 firefighters from across the state are continuing to struggle fighting the blaze, as wind speeds reached 45 mph.
