Tropical Storm Edouard, now lumbering toward the Texas coast, does not appear to pose the same threat to New Mexico that Dolly did 10 days ago, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast is still preliminary, but the Weather Service office in Albuquerque, which did a good job of alerting southern New Mexico to Dolly's threat, is not raising any alarms yet.

"At this point we're not overly concerned about it," Jesse Haro, the Service's warning coordinator, told me this afternoon.

That said, forecasts can change, so stay alert to this space for updates over the next few days.Or cut out the middleman and go directly to the source.
