There are plenty of ways alcohol can make a driver swerve.

Just ask Christopher Lucero, 31,  who was arrested on DWI charges Saturday after his passenger spilled a beer in his car.

He apparently  wasn't embarrased about it, either. After a State Police officer pulled over Lucero for swerving - and speeding - on Interstate 40, Lucero told the officer his buddy spilled a beer on the floor board, causing him to swerve.

Lucero was arrested after he couldn't complete a series of sobriety tests, police said. According to court records, it was the sixth time Lucero had been arrested. Read today's Journal story here.

Officer Kurtis Ward couldn't help but laugh when he heard Lucero's excuse.

We were able to obtain a copy of a video taken from Ward's police car during the arrest. We're making it available for you here at Lights and Sirens.
