Description of Event/Crime  : Ofc. received a fraud/forgery case on Sept. 8, 2008. Jeremy Ornelas was the Manager for "Able Body Labor (ABL)". ABL is a temp agency. Ornelas hired his friend, Lawrence Talamante, to work as a temp employee at UNM. Talamante was to work at UNM on a weekly basis, get a weekly work order signed by a Manager at UNM but instead would simply forge the Managers signature on several work orders and turn them into Ornelas back at the ABL office. Ornelas would then process the forged work orders allowing Talamante to get paid for work he never performed. While investigating this case, a witness to the forgery (Holly Porter) advised me that Ornelas stole her .45 Ruger firearm over one year ago and didn't know what to do about it. I obtained a written statement and a receipt for the firearm from Porter. The firearm was entered into NCIC as stolen and two warrants were issued, one for Ornelas and one for Talamante. Both subjects were picked up at Talamante's work and brought in for questioning. Both parties were arrested and booked into MDC for their warrants. The firearm was unfortunately sold to a local pawn shop and sold to another party. I am currently working with the pawn shop to recover the firearm and return it to the rightful owner. The pawn shop owner already stated that he will refund the money to the subject that bought the gun from his pawn shop.

Description of Event/Crime  : Officer observed a 2000 Dodge Neon White in color with Colorado plate 197-REY going North on Edith NW. Officer Chambers ran the plate through NCIC and learned that the vehicle was stolen from Thornton, Colorado. Officer lost sight of the vehicle, but was able to locate the vehicle as it turned West onto San Ignacio NW and pulled into the driveway at the 500 BLK. Officer was able to secure the driver and waited for back up then the passenger was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Jose Lempka and the passenger was identified as Daniel Villanueva. Daniel would not speak to officers, but Lempka said he gotten the car from a High School girl named Brooke. I spoke to the parents of Brooke and was told that these two suspects did not have permission to have this vehicle & the keys must have been removed from Brooke's purse. The two suspects had been listed on the police report from Thornton, Colorado. The suspects were booked & the vehicle was towed.

Description of Event/Crime  :  Recruit Officer and his Training Officer were on routine patrol and noticed a 1986 Chevy nova with nm plate hsj-236. The three occupants were taken into custody and a search of the vehicle resulted with the officer locating a coach purse and mail. The owner of the purse was located at Arapahoe NW and they learned that her garage was left open. Steven Atwater confessed to the residential and auto burglary along with the stolen motor vehicle. Steven Atwater was booked on the listed charges and the purse and mail returned to the victim on Arapahoe NW. A statement from the owner of the vehicle that had been stolen was taken and he said he had not allowed Atwater to take or keep the vehicle. He was willing to prosecute Atwater.

Description of Event/Crime  : A gold 2004 Kia Sedona was traveling North on Interstate 25 near mile marker #233 in the center lane of three through lanes.  The pedestrian, whom is alleged to be under the influence of both alcohol and narcotics, walked into the traffic lanes and was struck by the Kia Sedona.  The driver of the Kia Sedona was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.  The pedestrian was impacted by the right front side and windshield of the Kia Sedona.  The pedestrian was thrown from the impact site into the right exit lane from Interstate 25 northbound to Alameda Blvd. NW.  The blunt trauma injuries sustained during the impact resulted in the death of the pedestrian at the scene.  The apparent cause of this fatal crash is pedestrian error.

Description of Event/Crime  : N.E. Units became involved in a pursuit with an armed robbery suspect. Air 5 responded to the area after the offender crashed his vehicle in the area of Alameda and West Pan American Frwy. As Air 5 arrived on scene, the offender had reportedly just car jacked a white Chevy SUV and was proceeding E.B. on Alameda towards San Pedro. Air 5 located the vehicle and followed it as it drove N.B. on San Pedro to the East Frontage Rd and continued to Tramway. The vehicle then went W.B. on Tramway and S.B. on West Pan American. Units were advised to disengage. Air 5 followed the vehicle as it entered S.B. I-25 at Alameda and then exited at Paseo Del Norte, continuing W.B. to Jefferson. As the vehicle turned S.B. on Jefferson an unsuccessful P.I.T. manuever was attempted. The vehicle then drove through several parking lots in the Journal Center Area before exiting E.B. on Paseo Del Norte. The vehicle became disabled near the West Pan American Frwy and the offender ran North into the Coronado Village Mobile Home Park. Air 5 directed units to the exact mobile home and a perimeter was established. K-9 units arrived and took the offender into custody while hiding under the moblie home.

Description of Event/Crime  : On 10/17/2008 the Bomb squad was requested by BCSO to respond to 2800 Isleta Blvd SW because they had made a traffic stop and had identified what appeared to be explosives inside of the vehicle. The Bomb Team arrived on scene and were briefed that there was a hand grenade in the car and it appeared that there may be explosives, blasting caps, initiators, and several packages that the contents were yet to be determined. The Andros 6 robot was deployed and the packages along with the grenade were removed. Officer then got into a bomb suit and approached the vehicle to further examine the grenade and packages once it appeared to be safe for him to do so. X-rays were taken of the packages that had been removed from the vehicle and he also was able to determine that that the explosive contents of the grenade had been removed. Officer returned to the safe area and the X-rays were developed. A second approach of the vehicle was made by Officer after reviewing the X-rays and determining that the packages could safely be opened. What appears to be explosives were found within the packages. Once the scene was declared to be safe the vehicle was examined more thoroughly because we could see initiators in plain sight. The ATF was notified and responded to the scene and all of the explosives and initiators were taken to APD's explosive magazine storage area and tagged in as evidence to be used at a later date for prosecution. The ATF agent assumed case responsibility.

Description of Event/Crime  : Isiah Marquez and Adrian Marquez (no relation) went on a burglary-spree on 08/27/08.  They vicitmized (5) total residences, and stole one motor vehicle from inside one of the residences.  Latent prints were left behind at all (5) five residences indicating both Isiah and Adrian.  Detectives from the Burglary Unit assumed case responsibility, and had arrests warrants (juvenile) issued for both suspects.  Detectives were also able to locate and arrest both Isiah and Adrian.  Both suspects have a criminal history despite being 15 years old.  Isiah has (6) previous arrests including burglary and aggravated assualt with a deadly weapon against a police officer. Adrian has been previously arrested for burglary charges.

Description of Event/Crime  : On 10/12/08, Officer responded to a domestic violence call where the offender, Robert Trujillo, held the victim, Jerilyn Woody, against her will inside his vehicle.  Jerilyn tried several times to exit the vehicle, but Robert pulled her back inside and then pulled a gun and threatened her with it.  He pointed the gun to her head with his finger on the trigger and dared her to try and get out of the car again.  This went on for about an hour and Robert eventually dropped her off back at her apartment.  Jerilyn then called police.  She told police that Robert had several guns and was also dealing drugs and would not voluntarily go with police.  Detectives were contacted by Officer and briefed on the situation.  Detectives started working on an arrest warrant for Robert and later learned that he may be at his residence, located at 1200 N. Mesa in Belen, NM.  State Police checked the address for Robert and got him to exit the house.  They took him into custody and secured the house for a search warrant.  Detectives interviewed Robert at the State Police office on Carlisle.  After the interview, they obtained a search warrant for 1200 N. Mesa and later executed the warrant.  The gun used in the crime was located inside the house as well as one rifle, one shotgun and a large amount of ammo.  Detectives also located marijuana and mushrooms, along with and next to numerous bags and scales as well as other paraphernalia.

Description of Event/Crime  : On this day the Westside Narcotics Unit along with the assistance of the Eastside Narcotics Unit and members of the Middle Rio Grande Valley Task Force Unit served a search warrant in Belen based on a control buy for meth.  SWAT was utilized to gain entry due to the location of the residence and the suspects violent criminal history. Upon entry members of SWAT witnessed the suspect attempt to flush the narcotics.  The suspect was detained and a portion of narcotics were collected.  Approximately 1.25 ounces of meth were recovered and tagged into evidence.  A loaded .38 caliber handgun was recovered and the suspect is a convicted felon.  The suspect was booked into the Los Lunas Correction Center.

Description of Event/Crime  : At approximately 1501 hours, Mr. Paul Kelly and his wife, Donna Kelly, were traveling westbound on I-40 just west of Rio Grande Blvd.  They were traveling on a 2001 Harley Davidson Road King.  Mr. Kelly was driving.  Mrs. Kelly was the passenger.  Both were wearing helmets and protective clothing.  As they began to cross the bridge over the river, their vehicle appears to have suffered a catastrophic failure of the rear tire (Blowout).  Mr. Kelly stated that he heard what sounded like a pistol shot.  His vehicle then entered a rear end wobble.  In an effort to recover, Mr. Kelly rolled off of the throttle and tried to control the handle bars.  He was unable to recover and the vehicle went down on its high side.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Kelly were thrown from the vehicle.
Mr. Kelly suffered minor injuries (cracked ribs).  Mrs. Kelly suffered a severe head injury and was air lifted to University Hospital.  She has not regained consciousness and it is unlikely she will survive her injuries. Alcohol is not a factor in this accident. Speed does not appear to be a factor in this accident.

Lewis that he had just written a warrant for Sidney (SID) Baker and Yvonne Luna.  Baker's warrant was for an open count of murder, Kidnapping and intimidation of a witness and Luna had a warrant for Robbery, Criminal Solit. and a Probation Violation. Detectives conducted surveillance and were able to apprehend Luna on foot leaving the above house.  Through investigation it was discovered that Baker was in the house sleeping. With the help of APD K-9 unin, SWAT and Air Support; ROP Detectives were able to contact Baker from outside the house and had him exit, where he was taken into custody without incident. Sid Baker has a criminal history dating back to 1995 with 37 Prior arrests for Criminal Sexual Penetration, Kidnappings, shootings and numerous narcotics arrests. GARCIA OF SOUTHEAST IMPACT WROTE A WARRANT FOR MR. REEVES.  THE ALBUQUERQUE POLICE GANG UNIT THEN BEGAN LOOKING FOR MR. REEVES.  AT APPROXIMATELY 2200 HOURS THE GANG UNIT RECEIVED INFORMATION THAT MR. REEVES WOULD ARRIVE AT 1200 BLK. OF HUPMOBILE NE.  AT 2233 HOURS THE GANG UNIT ALONG WITH THE HELP OF ROP UNITS, MR.
