Two accused in connection with Wednesday morning attack on 27-year-old Espanola man.
Authorities have charged two Santa Fe County jail inmates in connection with the early Wednesday morning stabbing of a third inmate -- 27-eyar-old Jesus Naranjo of Espanola, The New Mexican reported. Anthony Martinez, 27, of Chimayo, was charged with attempted murder, while Julian Romero, 28, of Cordova, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, according to court documents filed Thursday in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court. Naranjo, who was stabbed multiple times in the chest, shoulder and arms -- even once in the heart, remained in intensive care at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center Thursday, and doctors told an investigator he appears to be improving, The New Mexican reported. "He's a very lucky guy," Undersheriff Robert Garcia told the paper. "One of the detectives said this morning that anyone else older than him probably wouldn't have survived this." Investigators still haven't found the weapon used in the stabbing and don't believe Naranjo will talk to them about what happened, Garcia told The New Mexican.
