The attorney representing accused killer Clifton Bloomfield (pictured right) filed a motion Thursday alleging that District Attorney Kari Brandenburg had put her political aspirations ahead of justice when negotiating a plea agreement with the accused killer. Police have said Bloomfield was a suspect in as many as six homicides. Click here to read the motion filed by Liane Kerr.
The Bloomfield case has been a political bombshell in the Distirct Attorney's race as Republican challenger Lisa Torraco tries to unseat Brandenburg, a two-time incumbent, for the Nov. 4 election. Torraco has been using the Bloomfield case to attack Brandenburg even before it was made public that Bloomfield, who was awaiting trial on one homicide, may have connections to five others. Bloomfield was on probation during three of the killings. Brandenburg has declined to comment on the motion.
