It's easy to forget bad things can happen when you're enjoying what I've come to see in the last week as one of the best things about Albuquerque.

We've gotten word that one person has died and another was life-flighted away from a balloon crash site north of here.

All the ballooners have talked about being a close-knit group over the week. I know this awful accident will cast a shadow over an otherwise wonderful week of balloon festivities.

My best wishes to all the ballooners and their families.

And here's to another 100 years of Balloon Fiesta without another tragedy.
