UPDATE: Storm headed to Santa Fe Permalink comment E-mail

The storm that just hammered the Albuquerque area is now headed north to Santa Fe, according to the National Weather Service.

As much as 0.89 inches of rain fell within a 30-minute period on Unser and McMahon. 

A flash flood warning is in effect for the Albuquerque area until 4 p.m. 


A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Albuquerque area until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

If you are in the path of this storm, the Weather Service is urging residents to take immediate action to protect life and property. 

Gusts up to 58 mph have been reported in the West Side, including hail the size of quarters, according to the Weather Service.

Close to an inch of rain has fallen in the area of Coors and Montano, which is causing some street flooding.

A funnel cloud has been spoted near Cochiti Lake, according to the Weather Service.

There was at least one report of a funnel cloud in the North Valley over the Albuquerque police scanner, but Weather Service officials could not confirm that. 

 Also, all events tonight at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta have been cancelled.
