Rain greets metro area this morning -- up north, it's snowing

The National Weather forecast map has a variety of watches and warnings this morning as a storm moves over the state.  A couple of low pressure systems mean that valley rains and snow in the higher elevations will continue during the day and into tonight.

Snow levels will be about 8,000 feet over the northern mountains today. 4 to 8 inches of snow possible. Here's the forecast and warning map.

For the Albuquerque area:

Today: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after
noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. East wind between 10 and 20
mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Tonight: Isolated
showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low
around 41. East wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is
10%.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 66. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east.
