Early afternoon event free, but registration encouraged

Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden appear in Mesilla on Friday, the Barack Obama campaign announced Tuesday.

It will take place at the Mesilla plaza. The event will start at 1:30 p.m. and admission is free. While tickets aren't required, officials are urging the public to registerfor a spot at NM.barackobama.com.

A limited number of "preferred viewing tickets" will be issued on a first-come basis at one of four Obama campaign offices in Las Cruces, Anthony, Deming and Alamogordo Thursday.
