Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver says her office has worked its way through the massive backlog of new voter registrations. That means everyone who registered recently should be getting their voter card in the mail soon.

Her office was mailing out the cards Wednesday.

If you registered recently but don't receive a card soon, call the clerk's office at 468-1291. Toulouse Oliver said about 4,500 registrations weren't processed because they were missing information or had some other problem. It's probably worth making a call to make sure your registration isn't in the problem pile if you have any doubt.

The deadline to register to vote was Oct. 7.
