Environment New Mexico says Albuquerque was 1.4 degrees hotter last year than the historical average. The finding was part of a new report the advocacy group released Wednesday. “While one or two degrees may not seem like much, just as any parent with a sick child knows, even a small rise in temperature can have a big effect,” Caitlin Cotter of Environment New Mexico said in a news release. Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez also discussed the report: “The good news is that we can solve global warming and rescue our economy by aggressively investing in clean energy such as wind, solar and energy efficient products." The report said the average temperature in Albuquerque in 2007 was 1.4 degrees above the historical average.
