Investigators in Las Vegas, Nev., are looking for the grandfather of 6-year-old Cole Mason Puffinburger, who was abducted from his home at gunpoint Wednesday morning, in hopes that he can lead them to the child, The Associated Press is reporting. Clemens Fred Tinnemeyer, 51, of Las Vegas is a person of interest in the nationwide search for the boy who was taken from his home by men posing as police officers, police Capt. Vincent Cannito said today. Cannito said authorities think the grandfather was involved in drug dealing with Mexican nationals and that the boy's kidnapping was a "message," the AP reported. Tinnemeyer was last seen in May and was reported missing on Sept. 11, according to the AP.
8:15am -- Search Continues for Kidnapped 6-Year-Old Boy: Amber Alert issued first for Las Vegas, Nev., and Southwest, is now nationwide. Police say tips are coming in, but the search continues for 6-year-old Cole Mason Puffinburger, who was abducted at gunpoint from his Las Vegas, Nev., home Wednesday morning by at least two Hispanic men who initially identified themselves as police officers, The Associated Press reported. The boy is described as 3 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 48 pounds, with blond hair, blue eyes and silver-framed glasses, the AP reported.
He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt featuring wrestler John Cena, a hooded black zip-up sweatshirt with white, black and blue stars, dark jeans and black Vans tennis shoes, according to a profile on the "America's Most Wanted" Web site. At least two men identified themselves as police to gain entry into a private home near Hollywood and Lake Mead Boulevards northeast of downtown Las Vegas around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, allegedly demanded money, then tied up the boy's mother and boyfriend and abducted the boy, according to the AP and America's Most Wanted. An Amber Alert was issued in Nevada, then expanded to Utah, Arizona, California and New Mexico, and the alert went nationwide on Thursday, the AP has reported. Las Vegas, Nev., police detectives say the boy is in extreme danger, and several detectives are currently engaged in a manhunt for the suspects and the boy, according to America's Most Wanted. One of the males is described as a Hispanic male in his early 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with black hair, with slicked-back shoulder-length hair, the AMW Web site said. Anyone spotting the boy or the suspects is urged to call local police (842-COPS) or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at (702) 828-3111.
