KOB-TV honored for investigative report; KRQE News 13 wins for education feature.
The public television station KNME-TV, Channel 5, took home three Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards for 2007-2008 at an awards ceremony held Oct. 4 in Phoenix, while KOB-TV, Channel 4, and KRQE-TV News 13 also were honored, according to the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (pdf download). KOB's Jeremy Jojola and Jeremy Fine were recognized in the "Investigative Report" category for "Illegal Dumping," while News 13's Larry Barker and Mark Corey won the "Education/Schools-Program Feature/Segment/Program/Special" category for "Failing the Grade," according to the Web site. Two of KNME's three awards went to "The Sandias," with producer/photographer Michael Kamins winning the "Photographer-Program (Non-News)" category and the program itself winning the "Environment-Program/Special" category. KNME's John Britt also won the "New Media-Photographer" category for "Antoine Predock: Earth Meets Sky," according to the list. Entries to the annual Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards do not compete against one another, but each one is judged individually on its own merit against a standard of excellence, according to the Rocky Mountain Chapter (NATAS).
