  • A new agreement over cleanup of the Hanford nuclear reservation extends the deadline to dealing with radioactive tank sludge to 2047, Scott Learn reports in the Oregonian. It's hard to comprehend what that means: not 2046, not 2048, but 2047. This is an amusing example of false precision. When you kick the can that far down the road, it really means is you have no idea how much it will cost or how long it will take.
  • Last year's $4 a gallon gasoline has increased our tolerance for outrage, but it's worth noting that an average gallon of gasoline in New Mexico is up to $2.68, according to AAA.There was a time that would have been worthy of note, and perhaps we're nearing that point again?
  • For the bird gang, a nice piece in today's New Mexican about attracting goldfinches to your yard. I've had a small throng lately.
  • From Reuters, Taliban going after Pakistan's nuke stuff.
