State Program Funds 225 Jobs

Journal Staff Report
The Job Training Incentive Program Board recently approved $2,000,058 to support creation of and training for 225 new jobs around New Mexico.
"With our country facing such difficult times, we are incredibly fortunate here in New Mexico to be creating high wage jobs like those being funded this month by the JTIP Board," said Economic Development Secretary Fred Mondragón.
The program is a valuable tool for the state when it comes to recruiting new companies like Hewlett-Packard, and "it is very important for us to continue to be able to fund the training of employees for new and emerging industries in our state," he said.
        The just-funded JTIP recipients include:
        • ClingZ, Inc. (Rio Rancho); manufacturer of electronically charged printable film; $9,960 creating two jobs.
        • Hewlett-Packard Co. (Rio Rancho); technology customer support; $1,513,485 creating 108 jobs.
        • Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (Albuquerque); biotech research and development; $331,253 creating 40 jobs.
        • Premier Pellets LLC (Tularosa); wood shaving/pellet manufacturing; $85,360 creating 15 jobs.
        • University of New Mexico Division of Continuing Education (Albuquerque); customized training for Hewlett-Packard Co.; $60,000 to assist in training 60 HP employees.
The June 19 board meeting will include a hearing on policies and potential changes.
