Journal Starts Markets Package

Journal Staff Report
The Journal today introduces a new markets package that provides more news, analysis and information in an easy-to-read format.
It also includes customized daily listings for 1,000 stocks and, once a week, a special mutual fund package for 1,200 funds inside the Thursday Business Outlook.
For those who want even more stock and mutual fund information, ABQjournal.com/biz provides up-to-the-minute, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week information on several thousand stocks and mutual funds. Readers can also personalize and track their own portfolios there.
The Journal sought input from local financial experts over several months and surveyed dozens of other newspapers in the country in selecting the new features, graphics and analysis for the market pages.
Here’s what the new package, published Tuesday through Saturday, offers:
n Highlights of the latest market developments.
n Stories with graphics that shed insight on trends or issues.
n Listing of stocks of local interest.
n The 25 biggest national gainers and losers.
n Interest rates, commodities prices and foreign exchange rates.
n A combined list of 1,000 stocks on the NYSE and Nasdaq. Readers can call in and have their stocks added.
The Thursday Business Outlook will provide the same markets package, plus a special listing of 1,200 mutual funds that shows one day’s change, a four-week change, a year’s change and a 3-year change. Again, readers can call in, 823-3834, or e-mail tfeld@abqjournal.com, and have their fund added.
In addition, the ABQJournal.com/biz offers financial news and listings of companies with New Mexico ties. Also online, Morningstar.com’s quick and easy stock ranking system will let you screen and rank more than 8,000 stocks.
