CNM Picks Architect for Rio Rancho Campus
Journal Staff Report
Plans for a Central New Mexico Community College campus in Rio Rancho took a step forward recently with the awarding of the first major architectural contract.
A CNM committee picked Albuquerque-based SMPC Architects over four other bidders, some with national or international connections, to land the $1.2 million contract to produce a campus master plan and design the first building.
CNM has formed a partnership with the University of New Mexico to share the campus in Rio Rancho's new downtown area. CNM will offer first- and second-year classes. UNM would offer third- and fourth-year level classes.
CNM also received approval from the Rio Rancho Planning and Zoning Board last month for the replatting of the 40-acre campus site.
