Red-light cameras stay until Dec. ’15

County aims to encourage development in RR Estates

BERNALILLO — Sandoval County could enact new zoning requirements next year for the parcels west of Rio Rancho, and implement new strategies and incentives for development of that region as part of its proposed Rio Rancho Estates Area Plan.

How big is backlog of CYFD cases?

The local Children, Youth and Families Department says it had a backlog of fewer than 300 cases this spring, and closed 145 during a recent blitz, but CYFD archives indicate hundreds more cases since 2007 possibly slipped through the cracks.

It’s that time of year: Teachers, students head back to school

Monday marks the first day of school for Rio Rancho elementary students, and two Enchanted Hills Elementary teachers are on the same page in one regard: Parents who are involved in their kids’ education help make those kids successful.

Negotiations resume

The ongoing contract negotiations between Rio Rancho Public Schools (RRPS) and the Rio Rancho School Employees Union (RRSEU) resumed Aug. 7 after a two-month delay, during which the school district filed a Prohibitive Practice Complaint against the union for failure to negotiate.

Two new restaurants opened in Rio Rancho’s Unser Gateway on Friday, near Wellspring Avenue and Unser Boulevard.

Residents of Enchanted Hills will soon have more shopping options as several stores are poised to break ground with new construction at the Plaza at Enchanted Hills, on the west side of NM 528, across the highway from Walmart.
