The Associated PressA 2-year-old program targeting gun crime has rid the streets of firearms and sent more violent felons to federal prison, according to the state's top federal prosecutor.
Federal prosecutions of criminals who use guns have increased by 63 percent in New Mexico since Project Safe Neighborhoods began in the summer of 2001, U.S. Attorney David Iglesias said.
