Journal Staff ReportForty-three members of the U.S. armed forces from New Mexico, or with close ties to New Mexico, have died in the Middle East since coalition forces invaded Iraq in March 2003.
Eighteen of those have died since Memorial Day 2006.
In honor of Memorial Day, Gov. Bill Richardson has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff today until noon.
