Seen from a hot air balloon, the tall spires and smooth sandstone walls of Red Rock Canyon near Gallup radiate a golden glow, pilot Bill Lee says.
"It has to do with the way the sun heats the sandstone and the way the light falls in the early morning that makes those rocks glow in an amazing way," he said.
