    Become a member of the cult of Troma
   
    The TromaDance New Mexico film festival will open tonight with special screenings of "Tromeo and Juliet" and "Mothers Day" by filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman. Kaufman, the founder of Troma films, will speak about both of his cult classic films and introduce the lineup for this year's festival. One of the highlights should be the showing of the locally made film "Defective Man." TromaDance specializes in independent films and will feature several blocks of short films from around the world. TromaDance New Mexico films will be shown at the Guild Cinema, 3401 E. Central. Tickets are $7 per showing, or $40 for an all-festival pass, through the Guild or Burning Paradise.     Come and stake out 'Gomez' at benefit
   
    Comedian and television star Steven Michael Quezada will perform at a benefit for Youth Development Inc.'s The Acting Core program. Quezada, a well-known comedian and a star of the TV show "Breaking Bad," which films in Albuquerque and in which he portrays DEA agent Steven Gomez, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Wool Warehouse, 516 First NW.     Flamenco guitar is dancing in his genes
   
    The National Hispanic Cultural Center's Performing Arts of Spain series will present Juan Carmona tonight at the Albuquerque Journal Theatre. Carmona, a descendant of the Habichuelas guitar dynasty from Granada, Spain, and a Latin Grammy nominee for Best Flamenco Album, has been called "the prince of the flamenco guitar," blending traditional themes with his own innovative, dramatic style. Carmona studied flamenco guitar at the Jerez Flamenco Foundation in Spain and has received numerous awards for his graceful playing, just like many of his famous family members.     A night so big, you'll order red and green
   
    New Mexico's biggest Spanish music stars are joining forces for "Los 15 Grandes de Nuevo Mexico." The show will bring Al Hurricane, Sparx, Lorenzo Antonio, Tiny Morrie, Micky Cruz, Brian Olivas, Gonzalo and many others to the Route 66 Casino's Legends Theater. Though Hurricane is one of New Mexico's music's biggest stars, and Cruz, Sparx and others have established careers, many of the others in the show are up-and-coming performers. Tickets are $45 at the door or through www.rt66casino.com for the 7 p.m. show on Saturday, Nov. 21.
   
    Finally, a donkey you can call your own
   
    The burro herd returns to Carrizozo this Saturday. The annual Burro Serenade and Auction in Carrizozo is an annual celebration and benefit for local charities. Cast-aluminum burros have been painted with whimsical designs by more than 25 artists from southern New Mexico, and the sculptures will be auctioned Saturday, Nov. 21. The annual auction at the Nike Dance Hall in Carrizozo begins with a dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door. Visit www.gallery408.com for more information.
