What about Bill?

By Jeff Jones
Journal Politics Writer
The buzz about Gov. Bill Richardson possibly being tabbed as Barack Obama's vice presidential pick has been running low on buzziness lately.
Richardson's chances these days "may be slim," conceded Washington state blogger Ken Camp, a Richardson backer who runs richardson4vp.blogspot.com, a Web site that plugs the Democratic governor for the No. 2 spot. "We're hearing a lot about Gov. Tim Kaine lately, and Gov. (Kathleen) Sebelius, as well."
But Camp said, "I continue to strongly believe Gov. Richardson is in the mix."
Richardson pulled the plug on his own presidential bid in January and endorsed Obama in March. Prominent blogs and newspapers mentioned his name frequently as a potential VP selection earlier in the year, but he recently has been excluded in much of the published speculation, at least when it comes to the vice presidential nomination.
Richardson "was once widely rumored to be in the running for Obama's vice-president spot," The Denver Post reported Sunday. "Lately, however, much of the speculation has centered on the possibility of Richardson being secretary of state in an Obama administration."
Richardson, meanwhile, continues to plug for the man all but certain to be the Democratic presidential nominee: He has been a surrogate for Obama on numerous national TV news shows and his out-of-state campaigning for Obama appears to have gone into a higher gear.
