Summer Shape-Up FAQ



What is the Summer Shape-Up?
Summer Shape-Up is an exciting way to get the personal guidance, motivation, and rewards you need to reach your full fitness potential. Along with this, you have an opportunity to WIN PRIZES. And as you take that opportunity, you can begin achieving all your personal fitness goals to look, feel, and perform at your very best!

Summer Shape-Up rallies you to exercise for eight weeks. It doesn't matter if you are just starting out or if you have been exercising for some time.  It is a program that encourages everyone to make activity part of their everyday lives.

Why Participate in the Summer Shape-Up?
Accepting the challenge is the first step toward being more active. You will find even more tools to help you reach your fitness goals - whether you're looking for new ways to measure your progress or simply a little extra inspiration.
Participate in the program for eight weeks and you will go a long way toward making activity a part of your lifestyle.
The Summer Shape-Up helps you stay active by not only giving you access to first-class fitness facilities, it also gives you a little extra motivation while you're at it.
We have special family-friendly group classes, special seminars on health-related topics, free nutritional counseling and more.

Participant Requirements:
Download and print the registration form, health history and exercise readiness questionnaire or tear out the registration form from the April Fit magazine.
Fill out, complete take forms to any New Mexico Sports & Wellness location between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily before APRIL 30

    Attend Kick-Off Event May 31-June 1 1-5 p.m. at Del Norte

  • Kids' Fitness Evaluation
  • Pre-event photos taken (optional)
    Picture must be taken specifically for this challenge.  Minimum of a sports bra (women) and shorts.  Max of a sleeveless T-shirt and shorts.

    How Much Does it Cost?
    $299 Family (three people; $25 for each additional family member)
    $259 Couple
    $199 Individual
    Sports & Wellness Members join for a nominal fee (check with the club)

    How is the Shape-Up Scored?
    Pre/Post Body Composition (or fitness eval for kids)  -- 60 percent
    Program Participation -- 40 percent
    Question/Answer  -- Bonus points

      What are the Prizes? 
    We will award prizes in Family, Couple and Individual categories. Prizes may include items including gym memberships, personal training sessions, tennis lessons, sports equipment and nutritional supplements provided by the program's sponsors

    What can you expect during the Fitness Challenge?
    All Sports & Wellness facilities available, including pools, whirlpools, saunas, weight rooms, locker rooms, group classes, kids' programs and more will be open to you during regular club hours.
    Specialty classes designed with this challenge in mind led by certified group fitness instructors are scheduled three times each week.
    Seminars on health topics provided by Lovelace Health Plan and The Vitamin Trader.
    Special discounts at our sponsoring retailers
    Optional screening for blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, bone density.
    A reception after the eighth week of the program to announce the winner and give out awards
