Bodrug Takes Red Bull Butter Cup

Journal Staff Report
Angel Fire, N.M. - Under the night-skiing lights at Angel Fire, 48 snowboarders took part in a shredding showdown as the Red Bull Butter Cup series made its way to New Mexico. Local Bobbie Bodrug, 17, emerged the winner.
In the pro division, Bodrug edged out Nick Williams and David Schoeplfe. "I'm psyched!" said Bodrug, coming off the podium with a cash prize, forum snowboard and Butter Cup trophy.

In the amateur division, Joe Reed, 14, of Durango, Colo., edged out the field to take first place. "Qualifying for the finals was the hardest part because there were so many good riders," said Reed. "This is probably the funnest event I've been to all year." Coming in second was Brandon Rainbolt and in third was Jacob Blom.
Brian Claxton completed a switchback one gap to back flip 180 — a move that earned him Best Trick honors. The Women's MVP award went to Chrissi Lund, besting six other female contestants.
The Angel Fire contest is the 19th of a 22-stop series across the country.
