Owners Can Convert Home to Green Standards
The Green Star Remodel program, the first of its kind in the country, allows homeowners to remodel their homes or make additions to their homes that meet the Green Builder program standards.
In addition to the various features of Green Homes, Green Star remodelers also earn points for their reuse and re-education of the construction and demolition waste. Often a remodeler can salvage materials for reuse in the existing project or use in a future project rather than adding the item to the landfill.
Scot Shapiro of Creative Construction is a green remodeler and found adhering to the Green Star Remodel standards an easy switch.
"Our crew was educated about ways in which they can conserve material, reuse items and reduce their waste and the switch has been an easy one," said Shapiro.
If you love your home and aren't ready to buy a new one, you can still be green with the Green Star Remodel program.
