Green Homes Can Satisfy Every Palate and Pocketbook
    Green homes can be built to the liking of everyone. Whether you're a first-time home buyer or building the house of your dreams, the Four-Star program can meet your wants and needs. Green builders build everything from custom homes to production-built starter homes. The tiered Four-Star criteria enables builders to build green in varying degrees. A One-Star home offers environmentally friendly features which increase in number and efficiency as the star level increases.

    Artistic Homes., Inc., Albuquerque's highest volume builder, has certified 1,116 green homes under the Green Builder program since its inception in August 1997. Several of Artistic's sub-divisions are entirely green beginning with the 789 home Desert Flower development in Southwest Albuquerque. The Avalon subdivision features all Two-Star homes.
    "Our audience is the first-time home buyer, and they appreciate the savings they realize living in a green home," said Jerry Wade, President of Artistic Homes. Selected by the City of Albuquerque and the Family Housing Development Corporation to develop the new Tres Placitas neighborhood, Artistic will build 251 One-Star homes on Albuquerque's northwest side. Artistic is currently researching ways to improve their building process to make the homes even more efficient and comfortable for its occupants.
