Two armed men in their 20s who stuck up the Albertson’s at Wyoming and Harper NE Wednesday remain at large today.
The men, described as Hispanic males 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store after locking three employees in what Albuquerque Police Department spokesman John Walsh described as a "management room." One of the men is heavily tattooed, Walsh said.
APD received a call shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday that the Albertson’s at 7101 Harper NE had been robbed at gunpoint. No shots were fired and no one was injured and customers had cleared the store by 3:30 p.m., Walsh said.
Traffic was diverted for a time off Harper between Barstow and Wyoming while police made an aisle-by-aisle search of the store.
After the suspects, each armed with a handgun, locked up the employees, they apparently fled while customers continued to shop unaware of what had happened, Walsh said.
