Lean Times for Videogames

With the holiday rush a fading memory, gamers are left with little in the way of entertainment for the next couple of months.

For those who invested in a PlayStation 3, the only option coming up soon is "Sonic the Hedgehog," a widely-panned effort that has already been released on the Xbox 360. By the end of March, PS3 owners should also see "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion"  and "F.E.A.R.," both of which also have already been seen on the 360.

For the 360, "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition" was released in January to pretty good reviews. This month, the big game is "Crackdown," a wide-open "Grand Theft Auto"-style game where you play as a superhero battling gangs. If Crackdown sells well, one big reason might be that the game will include a code to allow participation in the upcoming "Halo 3" online beta. By March, 360 owners will also have the next iterations in the Medal of Honor and Ghost Recon series.

Wii owners will see nothing until late February, when "Sonic and the Secret Rings" and "SSX Blur" are due. In March, "Prince of Persia Rival Swords" and "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition" top the list.
