It’s been a while since a new film came to the state, but this week it was announced that Kevin Costner will be filming his latest flick here.
Called “Swing Vote,” the film is a political comedy. It follows Costner as Bud Johnson, a regular guy, who has to decide the next presidential election.
His is the swing vote.
The film, though, will be the first for Costner’s new production company, Treehouse Films. It will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern, whose drama “Neverwas” opened at Toronto Film Festival.
“Swing Vote” will start shooting on July 23 in Albuquerque and Belen.
IN PRODUCTION:
“Wildfire” — Season Four
The saga of a young woman on a horse farm for the ABC Family network.
Filming in: Algodones, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Albuquerque.
“Wildfire” is the state’s runaway hit. A television show like this — now in its fourth season of filming — brings steady income to film crews as well as adds to their experience level.
NOW SHOWING: “Wild Hogs” features an all-star cast on motorcycles in New Mexico. Albuquerque, Madrid and several local spots are seen in this film. This film was panned by critics, but it hit it big at the box office with an all-star cast that included John Travolta, Ray Liotta, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy and Martin Lawrence.
