Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White is in the hospital after he hurt himself running Monday night. According to the sheriff's depar
tment, White was running when an old injury caused his knee to buckle and he fell and hurt his back.
The sheriff, who is also running for New Mexico's 1st Congressional Seat, is in stable condition but is being tested to determine how badly his back is hurt.
This isn't the first time White's fitness endeavors have landed him in the hospital. In 1998, when he was secretary of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, he lost control of bicycle on Unser north of Rio Rancho and was airlifted to the hospital with head, back and neck injuries.
