Mayor Dismisses Commerce Talk

martin chavezI don’t get the feeling that Mayor Martin Chávez is expecting an appointment as Obama’s commerce secretary. The League of United Latin American Citizens is suggesting Chávez and nine others as worthwhile candidates for the post.

Here’s what the mayor had to say about it today: “While that’s very flattering, it’s only a rumor.”

A high-level federal appointment is still possible, of course. But folks in the know at City Hall sound like they still expect Chávez to run for mayor again this fall.
