A late start to the week

I had to spend too much time in the office earlier this week and didn’t have time to blog. Some notes as I catch up:

  • Here’s your chance to give the mayor a piece of your mind: Martin Chávez will have open office hours on Friday, starting at 2 p.m. on the 11th floor of One Civic Plaza NW.
  • Noon Friday is the deadline for using a credit card to register for Saturday’s raft race down the Rio Grande. It’s $25 a person. You can register up to an hour before the races start Saturday morning, but you’ll have to pay in cash. Visit the city Web site to see the start times or learn more
  • Remember that debate over revisions to the City Charter? City councilors held a study session this week on the topic. Eventually, they’ll have to decide what proposed changes to put on the ballot. A task force that looked at the charter recommended making the city clerk more independent of the mayoral administration, creating a conference committee to resolve disputes between the mayor and council and establishing a commission that would determine the salaries of elected officials.
