People can view osprey and their nests in the wild
The 4th annual Heron Lake State Park Osprey Fest will be held July 10-12, the park announced Wednesday.
“Bird enthusiasts of all ages can witness nature in progress in a spectacular natural setting,” the park’s superintendent, Anthony Marquez, said in a news release.
People will be able to view osprey and their nests in the wild, see other live raptor species up close and personal, tour the lake by guided boat and ride the narrow gauge Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad Nature Train through spectacular Cumbres Pass, as well as participate in other activities, according to the news release.
Since 1990, osprey pairs have gradually established nesting grounds along the waterways of northern Rio Arriba County and Heron-El Vado area, according to the news release.
