May 4 is the final day to register before the June 1 primary.
People who aren’t sure whether they are registered to vote can check their status by calling their local county clerk’s office or checking on the New Mexico secretary of state’s website.
Registration is available at county clerk offices, any federal or state agency office — such as a Post Office or Motor Vehicle Division office — or can be requested by mail from a county clerk. The Federal Elections Commission website, www.fec.gov, also has copies of registration forms that can be mailed into local county clerk’s offices or submitted by hand.
Only people registered as Republicans or Democrats can vote in this primary election.
