Updated: Man Returns Baby, Then Flees

A baby, who was reported missing earlier today has been returned to her mother, but the baby’s father is on the run.

 

Robert Alderete, 33, and his 2-month-old daughter Lehla Alderete had not been seen since Thursday.

Robert Alderete, dropped the baby off to her mother this afternoon (Feb. 4) and fled. Robert Alderete might be facing charges and also has an unrelated outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Robert was last seen about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Albuquerque police spokewoman Sgt. Trish Hoffman. He was supposed to pick up his girlfriend, who is Lehla’s mother, but never arrived.

Robert also did not show up for work today (Friday, Feb 4).

Police are concerned for the baby’s welfare.

Robert Alderete’s drives a 2004 Gray Mitsubishi Endeavor with New Mexico license plate 047 PXY, according to Hoffman.
