Leadership New Mexico is proud to introduce you to its Core Program Class of 2011.
Leadership New Mexico’s Core Program provides a unique nonpartisan environment for learning and sharing by established leaders from diverse backgrounds, business sectors, and communities all across New Mexico. The Core Program experience derives from its participants” diversity of perspectives, the breadth of knowledge and expertise of the volunteer speakers who are statewide leaders in their own right, as well as unique, in-depth exposure to the six distinctly different communities in which programs are held.
As a result of participation in the program, Core Program graduates emerge with a fervor and determination to help make New Mexico a better place to live, work and raise a family.
Fifteen years ago, a small group of visionaries who understood the unmet need for a statewide organization dedicated to the education and development of its leaders created Leadership New Mexico’s Core Program. Today, the organization has branched out into four successful programs: the Core Program, the Local Government Leadership Program, the Connect New Mexico Program, and the Alumni Program.
Through fifteen years of hard work by dedicated volunteer leadership and speakers who share its vision and goals, Leadership New Mexico has established itself as the preeminent organization to provide established and emerging business, community and government leaders’ insight and information about the changes and opportunities facing our great state of New Mexico.
For more than fifteen years Leadership New Mexico has created a tradition of excellence that has and will continue to have a positive effect on the lives of all New Mexicans. Each of the Leadership New Mexico programs and participants has exceeded our expectations, and our hope is to continue to grow each program for many years to come.
From those nominated by Core Program graduates, Leadership New Mexico selects a class of established leaders from across the state to participate in the Core Program each year. The program consists of six sessions held in different communities across New Mexico over a ten-month period and covers topics such as health and human services; economic development; education; environment; energy and natural resources; crime and justice; and government.
The Local Government Leadership Program, a partnership with the New Mexico Municipal League, the New Mexico Association of Counties, and the New Mexico School Board Association, is a program for county and municipal officials and members of the New Mexico National Guard, regional councils of governments, and local school boards. The Local Government Leadership Program meets for two sessions in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and is in its ninth year.
Leadership New Mexico’s newest program, Connect New Mexico’s “The Next Generation of Leadership,” has just completed its fourth year. Connect New Mexico is a program for business professionals, ages 25-40, and provides participants with valuable information about systems and structures in New Mexico during three sessions across the state.
The Alumni Program is an ongoing networking opportunity for all Leadership New Mexico graduates that and conducts educational events throughout the year.
All of Leadership New Mexico’s programs create a supportive and collaborative environment for learning and the exchange of ideas. With roots firmly planted in communities across the state, Leadership New Mexico is enthusiastic about the continued growth of its programs and the ability of our its alumni to solve the challenges facing our great state. Leadership New Mexico alumni touch thousands of lives and ultimately have the opportunity to improve the livelihood of families and businesses and preserve the culture in New Mexico.
After fifteen successful years, the network of Leadership New Mexico alumni continues to expand across the state. To date, there have been nearly over 900 Leadership New Mexico participants representing 70 different communities and nearly thirty 30 different industries including health care, government, banking, business, education, oil and gas, high-tech, farming and ranching, and the nonprofit sectors. They are a group of talented, accomplished, and dedicated leaders in the state who serve on hundreds of boards, oversee thousands of employees, and play an active role in governing the state. Leadership New Mexico’s alumni are actively involved in local and statewide issues, and their passion is evident through the important work they are doing in their communities. As Leadership New Mexico carries on and continues its success in the future, more alumni will continue to emerge with a positive outlook and desire to advocate for a better New Mexico.
This year’s Core Program class, featured on the following pages, was nominated by fellow leaders; members are committed to making their communities and New Mexico a better place to live and work.
Leadership New Mexico has established itself as a renowned organization that allows leaders to come together and make a powerful impact on the communities in which they serve. This organization would not have become what it is today without the support and commitment of its sponsors, volunteers, staff, distinguished guests and speakers, and we thank each and every one of you.
Leadership New Mexico is pleased to introduce you to the Core Program Class of 2011 and share with you a glimpse of who these great leaders are.
