La Cueva High School Assistant Principal Shelly Green was named the new principal of Volcano Vista High on Friday.
This will be the first principal position for Green.
She has been at La Cueva since 2000 where she was responsible for curriculum, which included oversight of the master schedule and supervising student activities.
Green beat out five other finalists for the Volcano Vista job, including former Sandia High Principal Michael Bachicha, Truman Middle School Principal Judy Martin-Tafoya and Volcano Vista Assistant Principal Valerie Atencio.
