New Mexico Economic Development Department Secretary-designate Jon Barela will be making an eight-town tour of the state that will include a July 28 stop in Albuquerque.
The effort —dubbed the Job Creation Tour — will begin on Monday (July 25) in Farmington and also will include stops in Espanola, Las Vegas, Hobbs, Roswell, Socorro and Las Cruces, according to a news release from the Economic Development Department.
“In order for us to continue to create jobs and grow businesses within our state, I believe it’s important for us to reach out across New Mexico and seek input from the public to include their ideas on how to boost the economy,” Barela said.
Information and feedback from the meetings will be taken into consideration for a job creation bill for the 2012 legislative session, the news release said. The goal of the job creation bill is to make New Mexico competitive when it comes to local, national and international job recruitment, retention and expansion.
