Karl Rove, a political strategist who served as an advisor to President George W. Bush, will headline a fundraiser for New Mexico Senate candidate Heather Wilson on Aug. 11 in Albuquerque.
Wilson, a Republican who previously represented an Albuquerque-based district in Congress, announced Rove’s visit earlier today. Other details weren’t immediately released.
“Karl has one of the best minds in modern politics and he continues to inform and influence American life as an author, columnist and commentator,” Wilson said in a statement.
Rove’s appearance in Albuquerque could add spice to what’s already been a heated Republican primary campaign between Wilson, Lt. Gov. John Sanchez and Las Cruces businessman Greg Sowards.
That’s because while he remains a high-profile figure, Rove is also a political lightning rod of sorts who’s been no stranger to controversy in recent years.
