Curry, Roosevelt County Residents Warned About Jury Duty Phone Scam

People in Curry and Roosevelt counties are being warned about a jury duty phone scam in which a caller tries to get personal information.

The Clovis News Journal and Portales News-Tribune report that the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said in a news release a resident recently reported receiving a phone call in which the caller claimed to be with the District Court Clerk’s Office and asked for a Social Security number and birth date to verify juror information.

The news release said court personnel will not call people and ask for personal information. Anyone getting such a call should tell the caller they will call the court or go to the Clerk’s Office to provide the information.

Authorities want anyone who receives a scam call to contact the District Attorney’s Office at 769-2246 or the Curry County Sheriff’s Office at 769-2335.
