One of the more interesting subplots to the earthquake that shook Washington, D.C. this week was the reaction of the animals at the National Zoo.
The zoo issued a press release detailing the responses of the animals. It seems only the Giant Pandas kept their cool.
The Washington Post also had a front-page story on the zoo today. Both are pretty entertaining reads.
Michael Coleman is the Journal's Washington bureau chief and has covered New Mexico politics for more than a decade.
Coleman - a native of Austin, Tex. - previously worked at newspapers in Texas, South Carolina and Pennsylvania. He has won numerous awards for his work including a National Headliner Award.
Coleman frequently appears on KOAT-TV and national television and radio broadcasts to discuss New Mexico and Western politics. He lives on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. but returns to New Mexico as much as possible to work, ski and gorge on red and green chile.
