Multiple agencies responded to a fire that broke out in the bosque located in the southern part of Corrales on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire burned about 1¾ acres, according to Corrales Fire Chief Anthony Martinez. No homes in the area had to be evacuated.

Fire crews from Corrales, Rio Rancho, Sandoval County, Albuquerque, and Bernalillo County responded to the fire that broke out about 2:45 p.m. east of Camino de las Brisas.

Crews were able to draw a line around the fire to prevent it from spreading.

The fire was down to a smolder and crews remained on scene at about 5:30 p.m., according to Martinez.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday evening.

Martinez said Wednesday’s fire was just north of last year’s Cabezon Fire that burned about 17 acres of the bosque in Corrales.

Firefighters are battling a three to five acre fire in Corrales south of the Rio Grande ditchbank between Meadowlark and Cabezon, according to Sandoval County Fire Department Deputy Chief James Maxon.

Firefighters from Corrales, Sandoval County, Rio Rancho and Albuquerque are on scene.

Maxon said firefighters are currently cutting a line around the fire to contain it.
