I was looking for something a bit different on this restaurant’s menu, and I found it with the Steak Ranchero Plate ($8.25). The steak was cut up into bite-size pieces and cooked with small slices of green chile. But these were medium-dark green chiles. Were they jalapeños? I wondered. The waiter declined to identify them.
In any event, the dish was deliciously hot. The steak came with large portions of refried beans covered with melted cheese and Spanish rice, and a flour tortilla with pats of butter.
I’m glad I ordered iced tea ($1.75). I needed the tall glass to cool down my tongue from the heat of the chile.
