Report: Truth or Consequences Couple in Dog Mauling Case Arrested

The Sierra County jail says a Truth or Consequences couple has been arrested on charges related to the death of a woman who was killed by their dogs.

KOB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/oLhNc5) that John Hardiman and his wife, Maria, were charged Tuesday with five felonies, including four counts of having a dangerous dog.

They are being held on a $15,000 cash/surety bond.

The arrest comes after District Attorney Clint Wellborn said last month he did not have enough evidence to file felony charges against the couple.

A 48-year-old woman, Margaret Salcedo, was mauled by four pit bulls and pit bull mix dogs as she took a walk in her neighborhood April 24. She died at a hospital a few hours later.

It is unclear if the couple had hired an attorney.
