Court rules Albuquerque water utility has really annoying name

I have long complained that the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority has a really annoying name. ABCWUA? C’mon. So I was pleased at the opinion written today by Rod Kennedy of the New Mexico Court of Appeals:

In the course of this litigation, Applicant and Bernalillo County combined to form the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Water Authority, which, once created, was substituted as a party for Applicant. Because both the name and acronym are more cumbersome than the word “Applicant,” we use “Applicant” to identify the party.

I empathize with Kennedy on this. (He said some other things in his ruling as well.)
