Santa Fe’s police union has announced its endorsments for the March 6, 2012 municipal election.
Incumbent City Councilor Patti Bushee in District 1, retired businessman Bob Sarr in District 2, former city Fire Chief Chris Rivera in District 3 and retired magistrate judge Bill Dimas in District 4 have earned the backing of the Santa Fe Police Officers Association.
Santa Fe’s largest union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, revealed its chosen candidates earlier this week. With the exception of District 4’s Dimas (whom AFSCME endorsed along with opponent Carol Robertson-Lopez) the two unions clearly have different ideas about who can best serve Santa Fe.
AFSCME’s picks were recent college graduate Houston Johansen in District 1, nurse Elizabeth “Dolly” Lujan in District 2 and social justice activist Marie Campos in District 3.
There are 10 hopefuls running for City Council and one contender for municipal judge.
