National Polling Firm Has Wilson, Gingrich Leading Big in NM

Public Policy Polling, a national polling firm based in North Carolina, surveyed the Republican campaign landscape in New Mexico this past weekend and found Senate candidate Heather Wilson and presidential contender Newt Gingrich performing especially well.

You can link to the summary and polling data here.

“Newt Gingrich is up big in New Mexico, leading the way there with 39% to 14% for Mitt Romney, 11% for Gary Johnson, 8% for Ron Paul and Rick Perry, 6% for Michele Bachmann, 3% for Rick Santorum, and 2% for Jon Huntsman,” the polling firm announced this afternoon.

The poll also showed former Rep. Heather Wilson with a commanding lead in the state’s Republican senate primary.

“She leads John Sanchez 55-20 with Greg Sowards at 6% and Bill English at 3%,” the pollsters said.

PPP surveyed 300 usual New Mexico Republican primary voters from December 10-12.  The margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 5.7%. This poll was not paid for or authorized by any campaign or political organization, PPP said.
